No business can thrive without a team of competent accounting and finance professionals. Pursuing a diploma in accountancy is the first step you can take towards becoming an accounting professional or a Chartered Accountant (CA). At the Diploma in Accountancy (DAC) course, you will learn that accounting is not just about "number crunching". It involves a holistic education that will equip you with strong accounting knowledge, train you to acquire critical thinking and analytical skills, develop leadership abilities and build a strong sense of social responsibility.

  • Internship opportunities with the Big Four professional firms and reputable companies.
  • Collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for students to get their ICAEW qualifications. Our students may also pursue the ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) whilst in school.
  • Tie-up with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for students to start on the ACCA professional accounting qualifications before graduation.
  • Tie-up with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) allows students to obtain the Diploma in Management Accounting from CIMA whilst still in school, and have the option to pursue the full CIMA qualification as well.
  • Overseas exposure via study trips and overseas immersion programmes.
  • Variety of student activities and events that promote vibrant student life and bonding

Applicants must obtain:

i) the following GCE 'O' Level grades at not more than two sittings and

ii) 26 points or better for the net ELR2B2 aggregate score (i.e. English Language, 2 relevant subjects and best 2 other subjects, including CCA Bonus points)

The SP-DAC is a 3-year program. You will not only acquire technical competence in accountancy, but also have the opportunity to learn other skills in Information technology, communication, and creativity. The course structure aims allow you to develop a global business mindset, and to transform you into a work ready, life ready and world ready young accountant of the future. Our curriculum combines classroom-based learning with hands-on, practical experience to give you the key concepts of your specialization and expose you to the real-world practices. A highlight of the course is the internship placement in various local and international accounting firms.

Third Year

All third year students will be divided into 2 groups. One group will begin with the following Stage 3 modules in Semester 1 and then pursue the applied work study, a 22-week internship. The other group will begin the applied work study and continue with Stage 3 modules in Semester 2.

Diploma Plus Programme

Students can take on additional qualifications whilst in SP in another discipline that is totally different from their main course of study. These courses are conducted in the evenings or during the holidays. They can do a certification in the following areas:

  • Theatre Performance and Production

Opportunities for professional studies

Graduates who wish to further their studies are granted partial exemptions from various professional bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
 
• The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)

SP is offering new pathways for students to get their ICAEW qualifications:

• Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) qualification: Whilst still in school, students in Year 2 can take an online test and upon passing, receive this internationally recognised certificate (SP is an ICAEW test centre).

• Full UK Chartered Accountant qualification: After their Diploma in Accountancy, students can pursue the full Chartered Accountant qualification whilst working in the Big 4 or other corporations (sponsorship is available). This is the most accelerated pathway to get the Chartered Accountant qualification.
 
• The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

The ACCA Accelerated Pathway Programme (AAPP) allows our students to embark on the ACCA professional accounting qualification whilst still in school.

• The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

Our Accountancy graduates are granted the most exemptions by CIMA in their professional examinations among the various Polytechnics.

• SAC-NP Advanced Diploma in Accountancy
Graduates may pursue the Advanced Diploma in Accountancy offered under the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) to progress to the Singapore QP Professional Programme to attain the Chartered Accountant of Singapore designation.

Many graduates choose to study part-time and to gain working experience in the field concurrently. The international accounting firms offer sponsorship programs for our graduates to pursue their professional accounting qualifications while working.

Further Studies

You can choose to further your studies at reputable local and foreign universities, which grant modular to full year exemptions to our graduates.

Besides an accountancy degree, our graduates may also pursue a degree in Economics, Business Administration, Psychology and Information Systems. Many of our graduates are admitted to the local universities (NUS, NTU, SMU and SIT) and credit their success to the strong foundations built in our DAC course.
